Under the direction of Master Director Joan Borden, the Orangeville Show Chorus is comprised of 40 women who love to sing and harmonize! Chartered in 1981, the chorus continues to entertain audiences in their home community, and well beyond, with their four-part, a cappella harmony.
Over the years, the Orangeville Show Chorus has taken home many Regional honours from the annual Sweet Adelines International competition in Syracuse, including their 2011 gold-medal performance in their division and 5th-place overall finish (in a contest of 30 choruses). Most proudly, their 2009 performance earned, then co-directors, Pat Vipond and Joan Borden, the distinction of Master Directors, while also earning Joan Borden the Novice Director Award (her first time directing at contest)!
The Orangeville Show Chorus is known for its varied and extensive repertoire, which includes both contemporary tunes and old favourites. On any given stage, the chorus might serenade their audience with a beautiful ballad, get toes a-tapping with a heart-thumping uptune, swing into a familiar jazz favourite, or raise their voices in a good ol' gospel song.
The latest CD released by the Orangeville Show Chorus -All Fired Up - is a great collection of this wonderful variety of music. The chorus is available to entertain for any occasion, with the full chorus, or with smaller groups. Just ask them!
The Orangeville Show Chorus rehearses, with few exceptions, every Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 9:30. Visitors are always welcome.
