Laurie Moore has been a member of the Orangeville Show Chorus since 2003, when she was recruited at a hair salon, and has never looked back! As well as a Certified Director; Laurie is also the Lead Section Leader; even though she spent the first 12 years of her chorus life as a proud member of the baritone section. She is on the Vocal Warmup Team and is the Quartet Promotion Chair. Laurie is currently the lead in the quartet, Limited Edition. She also sang lead in her previous quartets, Kharma and Sister Act.
Laurie attends every educational event that she is able and has not missed a Regional Music School since joining the chorus. Recent educational events include the International Education Symposium in Maryland in 2017, and the International Director’s seminar in New Orleans in 2016. Every event brings new ideas and new inspirations.
Other musical experiences include being a vocal teacher at Citrus Dance for many years, and teaching competition level Song and Dance for Groups, Solos and Duets. Laurie was also the recipient of the Dufferin Arts Educator of the Year Award in 2013.
Laurie is an elementary school teacher at Alton Public School. She teaches Grade 5/6 and teaches music and drama to Grade 3 to 6. Every year, Laurie directs a school musical which includes every student in the Junior Division. Her recent productions include The Little Mermaid, Seussical, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and My Son Pinocchio. Laurie credits the musical knowledge she can share with her students to the education she has received through Sweet Adelines International and credits the rest of the success of the productions to the amazing support teams that help to make it happen.
Laurie's biggest support team is her amazing family. Her two children, Dylan and Rebecca, grew up knowing that Wednesday was “mommy’s night”, and her husband Stan now accepts that almost every night is a rehearsal night of one kind or another!
Laurie is incredibly grateful to be living a life full of love and harmony, surrounded by family, children, chorus sisters and music!
